2026/27 Session

Compulsory Modules

Students must undertake independent research to the value of at least 40 credits. This requirement may be fulfilled in the following ways:

1. 20 credit Liberal Arts & Natural Sciences Independent Research Project (08 27889) alongside either:
a) a 20 credit piece of independent work in their Major (where available), or
b) Liberal Arts & Natural Sciences Entrepreneurial Start Up module (20 credits, code 08 28918) [NB this module has a semester one pre-requisite 08 28917]

2. 40 credit Liberal Arts & Natural Sciences Independent Project (08 27893)

3. 40 credit Independent research project in field of major subject

Where a student hopes to exit with the qualification B.Sc. Natural Sciences, up to 120 stage III credits can be in the field of Natural Sciences, including the independent study project. Normally no more than 80 credits will be taken in a single subject.

Optional Module

Students must choose 80 credits of any Level H or I module subject to the limitations of the Block Timetable, the requirements to graduate, and the agreement of the Dean of Liberal Arts & Natural Sciences or their appointed deputy.

Two potential optional modules are: Entrepreneurial Start Up (08 28918) and LH Learning Entrepreneurial Skills (08 28917)
